There are certain times of the day and night and certain days of the week when the roads are more dangerous than usual. Your chances of getting into a wreck are sometimes much higher during these times, and you may want to consider holding off heading out on the roads during these times. If you can’t, you’ll want to be extra careful. Some of the most dangerous times to be on the road include:
- Weekend nights
- Rush hour
- Dawn and dusk when the sun is low
- Festivals and concerts
Some of these occasions, such as weekends and festivals, tend to be times when not only are there a lot of people on the road but when a lot of them are a bit inebriated, as well. The drivers who are obviously drunk pose significant hazards. Another serous hazard, however, is the buzzed driver. With their reflexes dulled just enough for them to be dangerous and their judgment dulled just enough to make them think they’re not, they can be serious hazards. Because they usually don’t obviously weave on the road, you may not even notice that there’s something wrong with their driving.
During rush hour, it’s obviously unavoidable for a lot of people to be on the road. The trick to staying in good health despite having to drive during these hours on a daily basis is to stay alert. In the mornings and after work, a lot of drivers are stressed and tired. This makes them dangerous. Watch out for people who are driving very aggressively and for people who aren’t really paying attention. People on cell phones in the morning are paying attention to what’s going on at their office, not to what’s going on in front of their car. Give them a wide berth.
While it’s sometimes disheartening to have to give bad drivers extra accommodation, it’s not avoidable. There are times, however, when even the most defensive driver will become a victim. Everyone has a right to be on the road and no one, no matter how rushed, tired or fresh from a party they are, is unaccountable to the people they injure. If you’ve been injured by a negligent driver, contact an attorney. A Texas car accident attorney will sometimes work on contingency, not getting paid unless they actually win your claim in or out of court.
