Earlier this week, we heard Theresa Sirls say “it’s been hard on this family, too” when she was asked by the media about her choice to turn in her son Daryl Wayne Sirls for the hit-and-run in Oak Cliff that left one man dead. Her grief over her son’s mistake was clear, but she had to do the right thing.

Theresa Sirls’ grief isn’t the only one being heard now. Bonnie Jones, mother of hit-and-run victim Dwight Jones, has come forward to express her grief over her deceased son. Her son Dwight had been on his way to see his mother Monday night when he was killed by Daryl Wayne Sirls.  Jones’ interview with WFAA was marked with anger, loss and confusion. She spoke with rage about Daryl Wayne Sirls’ actions, “He didn’t do anything, but hit and killed my son… He didn’t even stop to see.” She also expressed her disbelief that someone could not only hit a pedestrian, but drag the body for 200-300 feet and not stop to help.

The two mourning mothers both knew their lives would never be the same after the accident. “I’m not ever going to see my son,” Jones said. Sirls’ is also upset, but stands by her choice to turn in her son. When Daryl Wayne Sirls was interviewed, he sent out a message through the media. He wanted to tell his mother that he still loved her.
