Although the assumption is that drunk driving accidents take place on the weekend, there were not one but two drunk drivers out last night. On a Monday night on the Dallas North Tollway near Highland Park two drunk drivers actually hit each other in a head-on wrong-way collision. Witnesses and surveillance footage describe a silver Honda Accord entering the tollway at Wycliff going north in the southbound lanes. The Accord drove head-on into a black Nissan Rogue.
The Accord driver was a man in his 20’s and he was hospitalized with minor injuries. The driver he hit was a woman near 30 years old, and she was reported to be in serious condition. The police have not yet released their names. The police have indicated that both drivers will face charges related to drunk driving. The Dallas Crime Blog reports that the man who initially caused the accident will be charged with intoxication assault while the other driver will be given the lesser charge of driving while intoxicated.
