Wrong-Way Wreck In Spite of Tollway Changes

At 1 am this morning, intoxicated Ronald Nelson drove his Range Rover onto the Dallas North Tollway near downtown going the wrong direction and crashed into a south-bound Infiniti SUV. Both drivers were hospitalized at Parkland, but neither has sustained critical injuries.

Trooper Lonnie Haschel, Department of Public Safety spokesman, informed The Dallas Morning News that Ronald Nelson will be facing charges of driving while intoxicated when he is released from the hospital. The Trooper also had reassuring news about the driver of the Infiniti’s injuries when he said, “both drivers were walking around after the wreck.” Continue reading

18-Wheeler Slams into Back of DART Bus

Yesterday afternoon 11 were injured when an 18-wheeler slammed into the back of a DART bus while it was stopped at a light on Loop 12 near US175 and Buckner Blvd. The 18-wheeler was attempting to pass the bus when it struck the vehicle instead.

NBCDallas ImageThe driver and ten passengers, including at least one child, were taken to Baylor Medical Center and treated for injuries. Thankfully, the injuries have been minor and sustained mostly to the neck and back. The truck driver has received no injuries.

Police Car Hits and Kills Dallas Grandmother

A police car hit and killed Dallas pedestrian Beverly Kirk who was crossing the street after an ambulance had passed. The police car was following the ambulance as part of the response team. While the ambulance had lights and sirens on, the police car did not. The accident occurred Sunday morning at 3 am on the 9900-block of Bruton Road near Oak Branch Lane where the officers were headed.

Beverly Kirk, 43, was staying with her daughter and grandson in an apartment near the accident. Beverly’s brother, Reginald Kirk, told reporters, “She was a very loving lady and had a real pretty smile.”

The Kirk family wants more answers concerning the details of the accident. “I know for a fact that she’s not going to just walk in front of a moving car,” Reginald Kirk said. “I just can’t understand why he wasn’t able to see her.”

Rawlins Family Grieves For Son Killed by Reckless Driver

A Lake Highlands family suffered a great loss on Saturday January 9 when they lost their only son to a speeding driver who struck him as he was crossing the street on his way to meet friends at near-by Sonic restaurant.

Riley Rawlins was a 17 year-old junior at Lake Highlands high school and a proud member of ROTC. A Boy Scout and marine-in-the-making, Riley left behind many devastated friends and family members. Continue reading
