KERMIT, TX (10/31/2015) — A head-on collision killed Rodolfo Saldana and Howard Phillips, and injured Jesse Phillips on Saturday.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), 30-year-old Rodolfo Saldana and 60-year-old Howard Phillips were both killed in a head-on collision along Highway 302 in Kermit, Texas on Saturday night.
DPS Troopers reported that Phillips was traveling westbound on Highway 302 in a 2012 Chrysler 200 when he crossed into eastbound traffic and struck Saldana’s 1998 Honda Accord head-on.
Both Saldana and Phillips were pronounced dead at the scene.
The passenger of the Chrysler, 32-year-old Jesse Phillips, was transported to Medical Center Hospital in unknown condition.
The accident is still under investigation.
Until the investigation is complete, we can only speculate the cause of this accident. Could this accident be the result of driving too fast for conditions? That’s a strong possibility. Weather related accidents are quite common, which is why drivers must alter their driving styles when conditions are less than perfect to ensure the safety of everyone sharing the road.
