BACLIFF, TX (07/17/2016) — 4-year-old Omar Hernandez died Sunday evening after he was struck by an intoxicated motorcyclist.
The Galveston County Sheriff’s Office identified 4-year-old Omar Hernandez as the victim of a fatal motorcycle accident that happened in the 4300 block of 10th Street in Bacliff, Texas.
According to authorities, at around 7:30 p.m., 37-year-old Justin James Forsyth (of Friendswood) was riding a motorcycle the wrong way down 10th Street when he struck Hernandez and dragged him approximately 15 feet before finally coming to a stop.
“He said he didn’t see the child,” Capt. Mike Benavides of the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office said.
The child was rushed to Clear Lake Regional Hospital, where he later died from a severe head injury.
A blood sample indicated that Forsyth’s blood alcohol content was 0.26%, which is over three times the legal limit. He has been arrested and charged with intoxication manslaughter.
Police are conducting an investigation to determine how fast the driver was traveling at the time of the accident. They have already ruled out lack of parental supervision as a factor. If you have more information regarding this crash, please leave a comment below.
