DALLAS, TX (06/12/2016) — A drunk driver caused a deadly accident on Sunday morning that claimed the life of Aaron Williams.
Authorities identified 19-year-old Aaron Dremon Williams as the victim of a wrong way collision that occurred along Interstate 20 near Cockrell Hill Road in Dallas, Texas.
Police reported that at around 3:00 a.m., 26-year-old Joe Fuentes was driving eastbound in the westbound lanes of I-20 when his Chevrolet Silverado struck Williams’ Chevrolet Impala head-on.
Williams was killed in the crash.
Fuentes was taken to a nearby area hospital, where his blood alcohol level was found to be .18—more than double the legal limit.
Police have arrested Fuentes and charged him with intoxication manslaughter.
This preventable accident is one of the main reasons why we share these news stories. As advocates against drinking and driving, when an innocent young man loses his life at the hands of an intoxicated driver, we want people to know about it. Behaviors do not change overnight, but as a community, we must bring awareness to the issue of drunk driving. Drivers need to understand how prevalent the problem is in Texas, and that it is everyone’s responsibility to do everything they can to prevent drunk drivers from getting behind the wheel.
We would like to extend our deepest condolences to those affected by this accident.
